Agriculture Lenders Donate to Maui Food Bank

HILO, HI., (August 15, 2023) – Farm Credit Association American AgCredit, rural banking partner CoBank, and The Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, also known as Farmer Mac, are donating $40,000 to Maui Food Bank to help aid during the devastating wildfires that are wreaking havoc in Hawaii.

“When natural disasters impact the communities in which we live and work, we stand ready to support,” said American AgCredit CEO, Curt Hudnutt. “It’s deeply engrained into the fabric of who we are at American AgCredit. We hope this helps get much needed food to the people who need it during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the families of our employees, our customers, and the entire State of Hawaii as they endure this hardship.”

Farm Credit has had a presence in Hawaii for over 50 years, with branch locations in Aiea (Honolulu) and Hilo. The association has been a strong provider of financial support to Hawaiian farmers and ranchers and an active contributor in charitable giving programs to various Hawaiian-based non-profit organizations to enhance Hawai’i’s agricultural economy and communities.

“The contribution to the Maui Food Bank is intended to address the immediate needs and reduce suffering of those impacted by the wildfires in Maui,” said Brenda Frank, executive vice president of Farm Credit Banking for CoBank. “CoBank is proud to continually work with our Farm Credit partners to provide resources to support agriculture within the Hawaiian Islands, increase food security and now help individuals and their communities as they work to recover and rebuild.”
